Hello Everybody,

It has been more than 8 months since I posted a blog. Time goes too fast…!!

Actually, it has been exciting and enjoyable for okoii.

1. okoii Natural Skin Care is now accredited as Australian Certified Toxic-Free by Safe Cosmetics Australia.

2. We started trading at Organic Food Markets.

3. okoii was interviewed by the local radio (2rrr) at the Organic Food Market.

Also, we are in the middle of working on a new website too.

We will keep you posted when our new website and products are launched.

Today, I will talk more about the beauty routines that the Bimajyo practice.

Bimajyo 4:Ms Yoshie Kusama

Yoshie believes that diet is the source of beauty. She tries not to eat food with preservatives and has a balanced diet.

She eats garlic everyday and giblets when she can. She cleanses her face with lukewarm water at 32 degrees celsius, because your skin loses natural oils if you wash your face with hot water more than this temperature. She always cares not to make unnecessary friction on her skin and not to pull on her skin.

Bimajyo 5:Ms Akemi Nagayama

Akemi makes an effort to keep her beauty more than 5 hours everyday! She walks for 60 minutes, does 22 kinds of facial exercises for 2 hours, and 10 kinds of physical training for 2 hours everyday.

It is unrealistic for us to do this, but it is worth doing even a little bit everyday.

Bimajyo 6:Ms Reiko Monma

She is a very busy Bimajyo, raising four children and managing her beauty salon.  Apparently, she did not use a baby cart. Because of that, she believes she was able to maintain her body figure by using her muscles.

Let’s try to practice even for 10 minutes for your health and beauty !

Hello Everybody,

When I go to a buffet style lunch or dinner, I get excited to see so many different kinds of foods!

But at the same time, I am worried about my weight control by eating all the foods I like to eat 😦

Is there any way to eat buffet without affecting your weight so much?

Actually, there are three points you may want to consider when you go to a buffet.

1. Eat a Salad or Vegetable Dish First

You may be tempted to eat foods you like first. but  take a breath and get a salad or vegetable dish first.

Fiber in vegetables slows down the absorption of sugar into your stomach and prevents sugar levels from rising  too quickly.

Also, fiber expands in your stomach, so you feel full and may not feel like eating too much carbohydrate later on.

Remember it is wise to eat carbohydrate such as bread after eating a salad or vegetables.

2. Wait for 10 minutes before getting a main dish

You may feel urged to get a main dish right after you finish foods on your plate, but wait for 10 minutes.

If you eat slowly, you may prevent overeating because you already feel full.

3.  Divide 3 sections on your plate

The problem of  buffet style is you don’t know how much food you have eaten, and the plate for the main dish is pretty big!

Divide 3 sections on your plate

1st section – foods including protein such as meat (preferably chicken) or fish

2nd section – staple such as rice

3rd section – vegetable dish such as roasted vegetables

If you plan to have a desert, make the 3 sections a bit smaller.

If you feel you overeat at a buffet, no breakfast next day could be a good idea.

Enjoy a buffet in wise and in healthy way!

Hello Everybody,

When you are tired or stressed, dark circles sometimes appear under your eyes.

You may want to try to cover them by using a concealer or color controller,

but it is the best not to have them from the beginning 🙂

Most of the time, the reason for dark circles comes from the condition of your body.

That’s why it is important to look after your body from the inside.

Skin under your eyes is very thin and delicate, so it is easy to show the condition of capillary vessels under your eyes.

When the circulation of your blood is not well, dark circles appear under your eyes.

When that happens, folic acid and iron can help improve blood circulation and relieve dark circles.

Foods including Folic Acid

  • Asparagus
  • Nori (Japanese seaweed)
  • Liver
  • Rocket
  • Cabbage
  • Spinach   etc…

Foods including Iron

  • Cockle
  • Freshwater Clams
  • Beef
  • Miso
  • Chicken
  • Yolk    etc…

Also, you may want to massage around your eyes as there are a lot of pressure points around your eyes.

It is a good idea to cover your eye area with a hot towel and cold towel in turns.

Dark circles under your eyes make you look old and tired, so hope the above tips will minimize the appearance of dark circles!

Hello everybody,

Do you drink green tea ?

If so, please do not throw away green tea leaves after enjoying a cup of green tea.

Green tea is very useful even after you use it for drinking because it still works as deodoriser and disinfectant.

Just dry green tea leaves completely, and you can use it for various things.

1. For Rooms

Place dried green tea on the plate and leave it in the room, so that it will work as a deodorant.

If you want to remove bad smells instantly, burn a small amount of green tea in an ashtray.

2. For Frying Pans

If you cook dried green tea, you can remove bad smell from a flying pan.

3. For a Microwave

Place dried green tea in the plate and cook for one minute to remove smell.

4. For Closets and  Cupboards

Wrap dried green tea leaves with a piece of cloth and leave it in the closet or cupboard.

It works as a deodorant and repellent.

5. For Bathrooms

Place dried green tea in the little basket or plate and put it on the toilet water tank.

6. For Hands

When you cook garlic or fish, wash your hands by using dry green tea, so that the bad smell will go.

7. For Bath

Wrap dried green tea in the gauze and put it in the bath. It helps improve your overall skin condition and skin troubles such as tinea, heat rash, and eczema.

8. For Plants and Trees

Dried green tea can be mixed with dirt. It works as a fertiliser.

Hi Everybody,

Recently, I watched a Japanese TV program about a 97 years old woman, Ms Tsuneko Sasamoto, a photo journalist.

Apparently, she is the first women who became a photo journalist in Japan.

As you can see the photos below, she does not look like she’s 97 years old at all, and she looks lovely!

I wrote blog posts about “Bimajyo (Beauty Witch)” in the past,

but I think she is the “TRUE BIMAJYO” to me!

She is still working as a photo journalist and traveling around in Japan gathering information and interviewing people.

I saw her walking on TV. She was walking steady with her back straight.

Miracle 97 years old !

Would you like to know her anti-aging secrets?

1. Her Everyday’s Diet

She basically cooks at home and uses quality ingredients for her cooking.

She says:

“People who are fashionable try to wear expensive clothes by saving money from spending on foods,

but they are the least dignified people in mind. You have to spend the most money on food.”

I totally agree with her thoughts, and I try to practice the above everyday too.

She eats 100gm of meats every night without any bread or rice.

She also drinks a glass of red wine because polyphenol in red wine helps prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

2. Eating, Creating and Thinking

She believes that we should “Eat, Creat and Think” until the end of our life.

I am surprised to see her apartment because her rooms are nicely decorated, and they don’t look old-fashioned.

She is very creative and she tries to be creative everyday, that makes her brain work.

She makes her clothes, so that she can wear something different from clothes shops.

3. Curiosity is the Source of Anti-Aging

She says that she always has a great curiosity, and she researches or finds information that she is interested in.

She has written an “Everyday Notebook” for 30 years without fail.

She notes on her notebook the things introduced on TV and newspaper that she would like to remember.

She always seeks the new information about fashion, English (she studies English for 30 minutes every morning), and a wide variety of knowledge.

I wish I can be like her when I am 97 years old (but I wonder I can live that long 🙂 ),

but she definitely gives us a courage and hope to our life, doesn’t she?

Hi Everybody,

I have to tell you a bit of some scary stats…

It is said that we are exposed to about 60,000 kinds of chemicals everyday through our environment and foods.

Among them, we are exposed to about 400 kinds of chemicals everyday at home.

This article in the Telegraph says,

“Women put 515 chemicals on their face and body every day by using beauty products that contain dozens of ingredients, some of them potentially harmful. ” (Source: Women put 515 chemicals on their face and body every day in beauty regime released on 19 Nov 2009 from The Telegraph)

It seems like we are exposed to many chemicals just by breathing in?!

This could be the reasons why a lot of children are suffered from allergy and a lot of people have skin troubles and even often become sick.

I was once suffered from eczema on my legs and had to go to a dermatologist periodically.

I used steroid and also creams recommended by my dermatologist, purchasing them at a chemist.

Unfortunately, my legs were always itchy and had rush somewhere on my legs.

However, my eczema started disappearing when I removed “chemicals” from my life.

Also, at the same time I reviewed and improved my lifestyle such as skin care, diet and exercises, etc…

My face skin looks clear and healthy, I always feel energised, and I do not catch colds anymore.

Experiencing this great result, I cannot stop practising, so-called “Natural Life” anymore.

But, it is impossible to live without having chemicals around since we live in the modern world.

Also, there are many different kinds of chemicals which range from very harmful to less harmful.

I believe what we can practice is “Sensible Natural Life“, that is to refrain from the products and foods containing harmful chemicals to our health, and we coexist with chemicals wisely.

It is hard to change products and foods containing chemicals at once, so we can do it a little by little.

Even though we try very hard to replace many products to non-toxic products, we would still be exposed to a tonnes of chemicals anyway.

That’s why it is important to do the best we can do 🙂

Hi Everybody,

It is autumn in Sydney, and we’ve had comfortable weather lately.

When the weather is nice, I feel more appetite, craving for yummy food!

“But WAIT for a moment…! (talking to myself)”

Actually, there is a relationship between anti-aging and hunger.

In Japan, there is a book called “Being Hungry Makes People Healthy” written by Mr Nagumo.

He is 55 years old, but the age of his blood vessels is 26 years old, and the age of his bones is 28 years old.

He actually has one meal a day (about 515kcal), and he has never gained his weight since he started this eating habit.


I don’t think I can do this although it could be a healthy lifestyle choice, and plus I feel one meal a day is a bit of an extreme measure.

However, I believe we tend to eat more than we are actually supposed to do because we are surrounded by so many foods.

“Various studies have shown that cutting calories by 20 to 40 percent significantly both extends life and, with a little exercise, leaves old animals in better shape.” (Source: Live Longer: The One Anti-Aging Trick That Works

“Eating fewer calories also reduces age-related chronic diseases such as cancers, heart disease, and stroke in rodents. ” (Source: Live Longer: The One Anti-Aging Trick That Works)

Eating less could prevent us from diseases, that is so important as we can age more gracefully healthwise, not only making us live longer.

So, how can we apply this mechanism to our life ?

1. Skip dessert – You can cut 300-500 calories

2. Substitute fast food for a vegetable sandwich.

3. Reduce 30 % of the amount of food each day (Eat 70% full)

4. Have a salad or a soup before meal

5. Chew food well and spend more than 20 minutes for one meal

6. Do not watch a TV Food Show

7. Do not drink alcohol much with meal – alcohol promotes more appetite

Recently, I have reduced my food intake amount by 10-20% per meal, and I actually feel lighter and better.

However, I must say I become hungry especially at night.

So, I go to bed early, so that I sleep before feeling hungry

Going to bed early is good for your health and skin too anyway.

I know hunger is painful, but if you think this would make you age slower, would you not feel so bad about it?
